Call and Response: Changing Light in Transparency
For this project, we had to create a call and response with vinyl with a partner. My partner way Joy. We got assigned the printmaking studio windows to do our design. We were inspired by the amount of light and heat the printmaking studio gets through its windows. We came up with the idea of the call being the sun, which created two responses-- hiding from it or enjoying the heat. We created the sun with yellow vinyl that we then cut waves as rays that showed the intense heat. These rays extend from the sun around the corner of the room. We created a figure hiding from the sun with a brown vinyl. The figure is hiding in the corner under a bush that is on the other side of the window, and is crouched down small. In this location, the sun rarely directly hits the figure. We created a second purple figure with sunglasses. This figure is sprawled out, absorbing the heat in a location where a lot of light hits. This project was all about creating a response to light, and I think we accomplished that very well. It was so fun to work with Joy and bounce ideas off each other until we got something we liked! I also loved to see the shadows it created!
